BIo4A is a Horizon 2020 project started in June 2018 that aims to scale up the industrial production and enhance the market for sustainable aviation fuel from residual lipids. The project will enable the large-scale pre-commercial production of ASTM-certified sustainable aviation fuel in the EU. It will also investigate alternative supply of sustainable feedstock by recovering EU MED marginal land for drought resistant crop production through the use of biochar and Camelina sativa in agronomic field trials. The project will test the whole value chain and logistic at industrial scale and it will assess the environmental performance of the overall process.
