BABILOC – Biomass for local bioproducts production

The project addresses topics of central interest for the forest-wood sector, with the aim of restoring the production chain of sustainable charcoal production and relative derived products, focusing also in a pre-commercial perspective of these innovative products. Indeed, BABILOC project aims to encourage the technological transfer of an innovative carbonization technology developed by RE-CORD to the SME operating in the Mugello and Chianti Tuscany areas. Through RE-CORD pilot plants it will be possible to produce three different products, all with a carbonaceous wood matrix: charcoal, biochar and com-bi (co-composted organic matter with biochar as additive). These products, each with its own peculiarities, can improve the competitiveness of local agricultural and forestry companies (with direct consequences for the primary agro-forestry sector) using both dedicated and residual feedstock (available directly in the company or in the local context) with the aim of creating zero-km products, exploiting the transfer of know-how and technologies in favor of local businesses.
