BIOFAT (BIOfuel From Algae Technologies) was a microalgae-to-biofuel FP7 demonstration project started in 2012 that integrated the entire value chain of algae process from optimized growth, starch and oil accumulation, to downstream processing (biorefinery) including biofuel production. The dimension of the pilot plant is 1 ha, but the project also included the preliminary design of a 10 ha production plant.
